Google has made its old indexes (and web interface) from 2001 available for some fun. (IMG:http://mandrivausers.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The first word I looked for was “Mandriva”, and of course I got the following result:
QUOTE
Your search - mandriva - did not match any documents.

Then I remembered, and I looked for MUO, and followed the first “view old” link. It's been a long time since MUO was Tom's site!

> VMware Server 2 Released!
Posted by ianw1974 - 1-10-08 08:38 - 2 comments
Now, VMware Server 2 has been released!

http://www.vmware.com/download/server/

I've been using since VMware Server 2 Beta and it's great - a much improvement on VMware Server 1.x. For those who've used VMware Server 1.x, you'll know that it was always 32 bit. With the release of VMware Server 2, there is now both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

Performance is much improved I find. The vmware-console has been replaced with a web-ui to manage machines. So you either use this connecting to your machine locally, or across the network if you have installed VMware Server 2 on another machine. An extension is installed within Firefox, so that you can see the graphical console for using the machine.

I've only used this under Linux and with Firefox, so I don't know more about browser-support, but since the last six months or so of using it, I can definitely recommend it over VMware Server 1.x

Enjoy!

> About Us
Mandrakeusers Board (now MandrivaUsers) was the original creation of Tom Berger, an employee of Mandriva and a highly respected authority on Linux. Few people can claim to be a Linux "guru" but Tom Berger certainly deserves the title. Tom wrote volumes of tutorials on Linux, and his "plain English" approach made it a lot easier for so called "Linux newbies" to understand. All of his tutorials and tips are stored on this board. After Tom moved on to pastures new, a handful of active members took over the running of the board, and created a new MandrivaUsers Board.

Though we are linked to Mandriva and bear their name, this board is operated independently of Mandriva. Spreading our wings, we now support and offer technical help on all Linux Distro's.
